Outreach
Outreach is essential for the Letitia Carson Legacy Project as it raises public awareness, fosters community involvement, and ensures that her pioneering story of resilience, justice, and Black history in Oregon is recognized, preserved, and shared widely.
Upcoming Events
Letitia Carson Legacy Project "Fruit and Forage" Field Day
Where: OSU Soap Creek Beef Ranch, Corvallis, OR
When: September 28, 2025
Register in advance: space is limited
The Letitia Carson Legacy Project invites you to visit the land Letitia and David Carson first settled in Oregon! On September 28, we will offer three guided tours of the Carson Donation Land Claim and homestead site. Each tour will cover approximately 2 miles in 2 hours.
The route is a loop; tours will start and end at the Tampico Rd. gate of the OSU Soap Creek Beef Ranch (specific directions will be sent out upon confirmation of registration), where visitors can park.
We will be walking on varying terrain, including mowed grass and dried plant debris from trail clearing, which may be uneven in spots. The route has minimal elevation change and no stairs. We are continuing to work to improve site accessibility for future events.
Registration is required. We look forward to seeing you!
